His Working Directions focus on biomass gasification heating, key technologies of biomass gas, participation in key scientific and technological research projects of new energy industry in Jiangxi Province, international energy fund projects, investment in biomass energy demonstration projects, revision of relevant standards in the international biomass industry, industrialization research of biomass solid-gas liquefaction and coal coupling reaction technology, biomass residential heating projects, and biomass residential living gas projects.

Career Journey: From Capital Management to Intelligent Equipment Manufacturing

After graduating in 2006, Alvin Liu joined Ernst & Young (EY) as a regional manager in the Venture Capital Management Department, focusing on overseas project investment, mergers and acquisitions, and IPO advisory. This experience provided him with a deep understanding of the interaction between capital and industry, laying a strong foundation for his later work in industrial strategy.

In 2017, Alvin Liu joined China Yigong Group Vice President, serving as Vice President and Deputy Vice President of the Industrial Development Institute of Yigong Group, officially entering the fields of biomass energy and marine engineering machinery.

In 2018, he led a joint R&D project with a German company to develop China’s first intelligent integrated straw treatment system, which was recognized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs as one of the “Top 10 National Agricultural Innovation Technologies”, representing a major breakthrough in biomass energy equipment.

In 2019, under his leadership, the group’s first marine engineering equipment successfully completed 500-meter deep-sea operations, marking a milestone in China’s offshore engineering capabilities. By 2020, Alvin Liu had taken full charge of the group’s industrial layout and technological innovation, driving the coordinated development of biomass and marine engineering.

Since 2021, he has focused on deep-sea mining technology, leading his team to complete a 3,000-meter intelligent integrated mining vehicle test, achieving a major leap in China’s deep-sea mining equipment capabilities.

In early 2025, Alvin Liu joined Shandong Xinhai Mining Technology & Equipment Inc. as General Manager of Xinhai Ghana Company and concurrently as Director of Xinhai Deep-Sea Mining Industry Development Research Institute, promoting the industrialization and internationalization of deep-sea mining technologies. On May 25, 2025, he was honored with the “Asia Annual Science and Technology Innovation Award” at the Asia Brand Economy Summit (ABEC) for his outstanding achievements in technological innovation.

Industrial Contributions and Technological Innovation: Driving Green Growth Through Integration

In the field of biomass energy, Alvin Liu proposed the concept of “Five Chemicals” Comprehensive Utilization, covering comprehensive utilization of agricultural and forestry residues, clean biomass heating policy research, renewable energy feasibility studies along the Belt and Road, and revision of biomass energy standards.

He has led the revision of industrial boiler standards, contributed to establishing new biomass technology norms, and directed numerous national and provincial-level research projects, including Jiangxi’s New Energy Technology Program and international energy fund initiatives.

His team’s “Straw Carbonization for Soil Carbon Sequestration” technology was selected among the “Top 10 Leading Agricultural Technologies in China” and presented at the 2022 Anhui Biomass and Agricultural Waste Utilization Expo, providing practical pathways toward carbon neutrality and sustainable agriculture.

Additionally, Alvin Liu guided Yigong Group in building a closed-loop industrial chain covering equipment manufacturing, fuel production, and clean energy management, accelerating the industrialization and commercialization of biomass energy technologies.

In marine engineering and deep-sea mining, his achievements are equally remarkable. The 2019 launch of China’s first deep-sea engineering operation and the successful 3,000-meter mining vehicle test in 2021 marked new milestones for the nation’s deep-sea mining industry.

On May 30, 2025, in an interview with China Gold News, he stated that Xinhai Mining would accelerate the industrialization of deep-sea mining equipment through independent R&D and collaborative innovation, contributing to national resource security and marine economic development.

Industry Engagement and Global Influence: Amplifying China’s Voice

Alvin Liu actively participates in both domestic and international industry events, fostering collaboration and dialogue.

In 2019, he represented Chinese enterprises at the World Energy Congress in Austria, where he visited leading European biomass and boiler companies, facilitating multiple technology partnerships.
